Clean, clean, clean. After I cleaned all the little nooks and crannies with a toothbrush I wiped the badge down with alcohol just to be sure it was good and clean. Then just tape off a square around the badge about an inch bigger that the badge. I also used newspaper to mask off some of the fender and tailgate to help with the overspray. If you do get overspray outside of whatever you have taped off it will come off with a little bit of rubbing, no big deal. I sprayed a very light coat on with the first pass, a little heavier the second pass, and then one final third pass. I only did three coats on my badges because I didn't want to soften the edges, I wanted them to stay nice and sharp. I waited about 15 minutes between coats and then let it dry for about an hour. After it dried I removed the tape and newspaper. When you take the tape off it will begin to pull the plastidip with it, but this is a good thing because that is how you will remove all the excess plastidip. Just begin to pull the ragged edges right up to the badge and when it gets to the badge it will rip right along the edge of your badge, coming cleanly off your paint and sticking to the badge. I used a toothpick to get in all the tight spots. Just pick at the tight spots and get it pulling up and it will come right out. Just a tip, once you get a little hole started in the tight area with the toothpick twist the toothpick and the plastidip will stick to the toothpick and make it easier to get it pulled off. It really isn't as complicated as it sounds and the more patient you are the better it will look. Just take your time and it will turn out good. And the nice thing about it is that if you don't like it you can just peel it off. Sorry to get so longwinded but I just wanted to try to cover everything.

Second, I taped off the whole grille (no paper, just straight up blue tape)
Third, I gave them a quick sanding and degreased them.
Lastly, painted them from every angle with rattle can flat black.
