Default Subwoofers?

What's the best subwoofer/amp system to put in my quad cab that isn't too expensive? I care more about value then the highest quality. Should I get one or two subs? Is there anyway I can get one bigger than a 12"? Let me know!

To keep costs down you can go with the mtx thunderform. It mounts under the back seat with 2 10's. If you want 12's you need to do build a custom box and take precise air space calcs or it'll sound like garbage. If you've got a lot of skill then build one, if not, get the mtx unit.

The most important part of amp shopping is sizing it correctly for your system. You need to pick your speakers/subs first. Dual voice coils are ideal because you can wire them to almost any ohm resistance to work with a lot of amps. If your only doing subs then you'd want a monoblock. Rms is the power that matters. Get an amp close to the total rms of the speakers you hook up to it.

I'm not a fan of buying and selling via paypal/shipping. Do you know of anywhere I can buy them from? I've heard they arn't too expesnive but still good.

For an unamped version you are looking at $3-400 + a 200watt or so amp. Amp built in version is $5-600ish on the MTX thunderforms. Find a used one IMO. Look on craigslist, I got one with a 200 watt alpine amp for $150. It fits perfectly and sounds GREAT. I rewired the box parallel so its 2ohm load. The MTX thunder4000 subs it comes with are 400 watt speakers but the 200watt amp pushes it nicely. I would suggest if you buy a used one, pull out the speakers and replace all the mount screws with stainless, they are prone to rust. I plastidip'd the box too, came out nice.

Yeah seems like a good quality add-on where not many others exist. Good purchase
