I was reading up on all the threads I could find on here about the difference between tuners, and decided to go with SC, and then I read the differences between Cortex and Flashpaq, and I guess they do the same things minus the warranty? Anyway, they were both at $300 so I just went with the Cortex anyway...can't wait to test it out!
Yes... the trans tuning is separate from the performance tuning. The only link between using the two is I do believe the tuner has to be locked to you vehicle first before downloading the trans tuning software to the handheld. As far as having to use 91 octane performance in order to use the trans tuning, you can use any of the octane performance tunes, including the 87 octane tune, and still use the trans tuning. You'll be very pleased with the trans tuning software and all of the help that is available for any questions you may have on it. I am a very happy customer with the trans tuning on mine!

Yes , the tuner does have to be married to your truck. And Ron is right, you can use it with ant of the performance tunes. I love the tranny tune and wouldn't be without it. The best $40.00 I have spent so far. Ron is also right about all the help that is available here, a few of the guys on here were the original beta testers (Silshemi is awesome) and really know there stuff when it comes to shift schedules, torque management and all the "goodies" that are associated with your Superchips.
