Default New LED Cargo light mod for bed with tonneau cover

So, I had to do something for cargo lights after installing the Peragon hard tonneau because I couldn't see underneath at night.

The Mopar bedlights are WAAAAY overpriced. I know the 2009+ ones are like $380?WTF?
So, I went and purchased a 5m roll of LED's in the Cool White color. These are the brightest LED you can get. About 3x's the brightness of standard smd's. These lights are BRIGHT!
The roll that I purchased came with 3m tape on ther backside for a peel and stick application.

I put a 5A inline fuse next to the battery and ran that to a push button switch by the tailgate. I didn't want to tap into my cargo lights because I unload/load the bed sometimes when the truck is locked up.

Enough crap, here's the pics.

Here's the switch stuck to the L-bracket for the cover. Notice I bought the BLACK faced LED strips as alot of them are white. I taped the wires up underneath with Gorilla Tape. It'll hold, cuz it'll be dry under there. I ran the power wire into the stake pocket and down below(just as the Mopar light directions show) and along the frame to the battery.

Daytime

Nighttime

With what I have left over ~6ft, I'm going to put 5ft under the hood since I have no courtesy light under there(thanks dodge for the cheap *** design on my $38k truck), and I'll use the remaining 1ft inside the cab in various places because you can cut 3LEDs off for multiple options.

Very cool. Sounds pretty easy to do, too. I'm disappointed with the lack of adequate lighting under the hood, as well.

Sweet idea! Right now all I've done is attach an LED tap light to the underside of the tonneau with double-sided tape. Looks like I"ll be doing this one too. Thanks!

Looks really awesome. I have some white strips that are going under my doors so when you open them they come on but thats another project for another day. You thought about doing those yet?
