trying to figure out what gear ratio i have

Question trying to figure out what gear ratio i have

hey guys, im trying to figure out what gear ratio i have in my truck. i have an 04 ram 1500 hemi SLT 4x4. at 55mph my tach reads at around 1450-1475...not quite 1500 rpm's. just trying to figure it out b/c im curious to know. if this doesnt help i can try and get some more info, just let me know what you need and i'll try and find it, thanks a lot guys!

Should be stamped on the axle somewheres.

yep, mine was stamped 3.92LD on the tag bolted to rear axle. (LD)Light Duty

You could jack up the rear by the pumkin, put the trans in nuetral, chalk the inside of the tire at the bottom to line it up with the ground and chalk the driveshaft on the bottom as well. slowly rotate the tire 1 full revolution and count the rotations of the driveshaft.
If you have 3:55's the mark will end up at the top of the driveshaft. 3:92's the mark will end up at about7'oclock or 5'oclock depending which way you rotate the tire.

I think on my 03 there was a sticker in my glovebox but it was torn out. My buddys says it on that sticker.

In order of ease:

1) Glove Box sticker

2) Tag on rear axle

3) order a build sheet online from Chrysler

4) jack up *** end of truck, mark the driveshaft with a piece of chalk, rotate tires and count how many rotations the tires make before the chalk mark gets back to the starting point...
