Do you think the 305/70s would work without rubbing? I have my eye on a set, I dont want to go too skinny and put my truck on bicycle tires lol. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-NEW-305-70...item45f72285b6

I have a Tundra with a 2.5" leveling kit with 285's and it looks perfect. Your Ram will look good no matter what size you choose. The real look will come from the tread pattern you choose. Those Maxxis look pretty tough.

Awesome thanks man. http://www.maxxis.com/AutomobileLigh...2-Bighorn.aspx I looked at the specifications, it says lowest width 9 inches? Will I be fine with the 17x8s you think? Also says 12.2 inches width, think thatll clear? Thanks for all the help.

Will do, I went ahead and bought a set just waiting for them to come in. Btw, I decided not to go with onlinetires.com I read some pretty bad reviews. I'll post pictures first thing when I get them mounted. Thanks for all the help.

It varies slightly by brand and model, but a 285/70 tire is around 33". A 285/75 or 305/70 are around 34" (a little under). The 285 is narrower tire and the height is determined by the 70 number vs. the 75 which represents the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tire width, so that is why a 285/70 is not as tall as a 285/75. You aren't getting close to 35" tires until you start talking 315's or 325's. In the popular Nitto Terra Grappler, you've got to get to a 325/70 to get right at 35" in height.

It would pay off to do a little research on the brands and models you are interested in as the manufacturers usually post specs on the heights/widths of each size. That will help you determine the best rim width and also any offset you might need to consider so that you are not stuffing too much tire under the fenders.

Well I got them on, and it looks so much better than those blingy stock 20s. No rubbing what-so-ever, and suprisingly the Maxxis bighorn rides better than the stock tires. I parked next to my friends sierra who has 35s and I can barely notice a difference besides the width. Ill post pics soon.
