Why is the stock lsd so notorious?
I've seen several people on here talk about how bad the stock lsd is. Why is it so hated? Also I'm about to put 35's on along with 4.56 gears. Would I be in need of a new diff too? If so, front, back, or both?
Doesn't matter what you put on it, it's still known to be prone to failure of the C-clips that are in there. Nobody is hatin' just to hate. I think the negative outlook on it is based on why Dodge would, A - continue to use a potentially faulty setup and/or B - not recall it and fix it right.
I don't have the LSD, thank goodness. But my take is that the opinions here are that, you either fix/replace it yourself or else consider yourself to just be driving a ticking bomb. And that has nothing to do with what wheels and tires you are running or if you just have what came on the truck.

IMO, its not that the stock LSG is bad itself because I never had nay REAL issues with mine per`se but I did have clip issues like mentioned above. I replaced mine because I ran into a good deal on a new Auburn with new gears. Had I not, I would still have the stock LSD in there today.
There should be no need to answer this question, it's been answered in HUNDREDS of posts just in this section alone. You've been here long enough to know how to use the search feature by now!!!
