transport canadas review of my right drga link falling off truck.
Transport Canada has determined Chrysler was not at fault for my drag link seperation.
Lack of mainatance caused the ball and socket joint to rust out,( ie grease) when I questioned why thiers no cottor pin and lock nut at the bottom ( where attatched to the hub ) I was told all makes off HD trucks use compression fittings.
As a 2500 owner, I dropped the ball on this one as I did not check the right drag link asembly after my truck was last in for service.
Transport Canada is investgating a lot of drag link issues on the Ram 2500, Y design on my truck and the newer t style.
I suspected the ball joints were so so and I knew the front U joints were toast, so I cut back on my driving, now that the front end and stearing linkage is all rebuilt with grease able componants.

Hmm...being I just swapped out my ball joints, I can say there is no cotter pin or a castle nut on the ball joint but on the replacements I put in there is. However, that would not keep the BJ from separating. It would keep the castle nut in place and keep the ball joint from coming out of the control arm.
