Default Load range C or D

So...I have decided to level the truck after all. I think from what I have read 285/70/17 are my best bet, however; it looks like every one out there is range "D". I dont ever tow and only haul light loads on occasion so I was thinking a "C" would be my best bet. Does anyone know if D's will ride real rough since I am usually empty?

Wanted Cooper AT3 but that size only comes in "E" so it looks like I will have to go with Nitto. I like the Dura Tracs but they seem over priced IDK.

For a pickup truck regardless of if you tow or haul I would always go with a minimum of a load range D tire. Just my personal preference though.

Why skip over the Cooper's just because they only come in "E"? I put Load Range E on my truck.. Ride is great, and at 35PSI the rear grips everything.
