Default 2006 dodge ram front end aftermark options

My work truck does 90% dirt road per year, i end up rebuilding the front end each year, ball joints, tie end rods etc. Are any of you guys running front end parts that are much more stronger then what i would just get from the dealer?

I would second MOOG for all of the joints/buhings as they can be purchased with zerk grease fittings. The sealed "non serviceable" units from the factory are garbage.

I'll throw a third vote for Moog, and by any chance you still **** through your front end parts, at least you only pay for labor.

Thanks for the info. Just calling around my local area for price's and then see what I can find online. Need to do both wheel hubs, both upper ball joints and both outer tire end rods.
Funny thing to i noticed is that i can't find the upper and lower control arms to buy, I noticed that you can get 2005 control arms that even have the ball joints already in them. Heck I might even replace all the bushing if i'm ripping the front end off.

Keep in mind that 05 and 06 parts are not the same.06 was the switch to the coil over front ends, 02-05 were torsion, so quite a bit changed.

The upper ball joints for 06+ are non replaceable. you have to buy the whole upper control arm. Check rock auto for parts, they have greaseable MOOG UCA's for ~$70

MOOG Part # K620175 - upper left CA
MOOG Part # K620174 - Upper right CA

MOOG also makes greaseable tie rod ends.

the lower ball joints can be replaced without having to replace the entire control arm, so i would go that route before you tear into replacing the entire arm.

To add to nateroach, the torsion front ends are only for 02-05 4x4s and 06+ 4x4s have a strut type front end. But most of the parts should be the same I believe. If you have any doubt I say email whoever you're ordering from and ask if the part will work with your drivetrain type (2WD or 4x4)

MOOG only has suspension and chassis parts, so no CV's. The question of if there are better CV's out there, yes there are, but what are you considering better. If the proper geometry is maintained the OEM CV's are good. people run into problems when they exceed the 15 deg max inner CV angle.

Kore suspension does make some killer super heavy duty fully rebuild-able CV's that can handle more angle, but your going to pay for them. I think the last i heard they are $700 a set, and that's just for the joints, not the complete assembly with the half shafts.
