2nd tank- 279 miles on 18.79 gals for 14.84 mpg......getting worse!

If my opinion is correct, the next tank should be an improvement because it will be more highway miles than city.

If your chip is doing what I think its doing its dumping more fuel into the A/F ratio to make more power which hurts MPG

Now I am back up to what it was just before the FS3 was installed......326 miles on 20.90 gals for 15.60 mpg. Confidence is not high for any noticeable improvement but the testing continues.

In an effort to be fair, I pushed the reset button on the FS3 after filling up. We'll see if that has any effect on the next tank.

Merry Christmas

Things just continued to get worse. 14.42 mpg for the next to last tank and then 14.12 mpg for the final tank. Average for the six tank test was 14.4 mpg vs. 14.9 mpg for the 20 tanks before installing the chip.

I reset the engine computer by pulling the relay after uninstalling the VOLO chip. We'll see how the mileage does with the return to stock.......I'll let you know.

I can already tell you it will improve. "chips" are a waste of money. Get an actual TUNER and you'll see real gains

I agree, but which tuner has the best track record for mpg improvement? I can't seem to find anyone posting results like I did with the Volo FS3.

Well tuners are more for power really and power and MPG aren't really used in the same sentence. Also you will have multiple people claim different gains because each truck is different. But the most common I have seen is a gain with the Superchips 3815/3865 on the 91 octane setting. I gained about 1.5 MPG highway and maybe .5 in the city but I don't track my MPG furiously

That's not bad but not worth it to me to pay the extra cost for 91 octane. My Hemi has enough power but I want to squeeze all the mpg I can.....at a reasonable cost.

I wonder what HyperTech and DiabloSport do in terms of mpg improvement?

Really-

If you're looking for more mpg, start by eliminating as much parasitic loss as possible.

An electric fan instead of an engine driven one. Pull the restrictive exhaust and go to a set of headers and exhaust system. Move to synthetic oils and the same weight.
Keep the engine at the recommended tune-up intervals etc, etc.

Yep. Gone Fishin hit it on the head. The way to get the best MPG is with a stock truck and then perform the mods and maintenance he suggested. The E Fan is the best place to start
