What does a shift kit do? I know it stiffens up shifts... But does it make the tranny "stronger" preventing failure from more power? (within reason of course)

 

thinking its quicker and firmer is the main purpose but i maybe it does prolong the transmission and clutches by reducing the delay.
I have a Sharadon Stage III VB and had harsh down shifts but having the dealership do a transmission quick learn took care of that. The upshifts are nice.
Running stock tranny @ 131k w/ a few bolt ons.

 

My Superchips flashpaq makes it feel like I have a shift kit. And thats only with the quick tune.
