Default Squeezing as many miles as I can

I have an '04 1500 4x4 with the 5.7, initially I was reading the EPA reports that the average was 11 city 14 highway, this made my heart sink at the prospect of sitting in Lejeune traffic with this gas hog. Well I am happy to report on the highway I averaged 21.2 mpg, and 13.9-15.0 on my daily commute. I seafoamed it the other day and it improved the idle and mileage. The truck is bone stock and I plan to keep it as such.

I run an 06 hemi on lejeune as a work truck.. have been since it was new.. stop and go collecting samples there and new river I average about 13 overall in a quad cab 4x2... Me or my help drive about 800 miles a week in that truck, and burn two and a half tanks or so..

Lejeune traffic sucks, no?

@08hemi, I got those numbers from the EPA website, the 5.7 gets 11-14, @Drew...hell yeah that traffic sucks, been fighting it for four years. My commute is short, 13 miles to work and the same home, i leave for work early enough to beat the traffic so my ride in is around 20 minutes, but it takes an hour or more to drive home! How much does the electric fan go for? And where could I find me one for cheap cheap!

My stock 4.7 can get to 425-450 to a tank( I don't drive my truck till it's empy! It'll get about 340 miles till 1/4, that's how I just calculated) I can get 100-130 per 1/4 of a tank. I drive nothing but highway 90% of the time.18-20 MPG.

I could get about 400 a tank if it's all highway. But I am lifted and running slightly larger tires. Back when I was stock I used to nip 20 MPG all the time, now I'm happy for 17-18

That's just the nature of the beast, I'm happy with the numbers i'm getting now. I don't get on it, usually don't exceed 2 grand and it works fine for me. I've been so conscience of the gas because I traded my Toyota Yaris for it at the Dealer. It was no Prius but it stayed in the 30's
