That's gay as crap. In dfw the cops don't seem to care about that sorta stuff because they are behind me all the time and my taillights are smoked. Idk maybe they look aftermarket. Either way, I have blue hids with no projectors, no front license plate, smoked taillights, red license plate lights, and I think that's it for now but that's enough for picky cops, anyway I've never been talked to about any of those out of the 5 times I've been pulled over this year (no tickets). Oh and I have a pa system too and I often yell stuff in front of them (not offensive stuff though lol)

Sec. 547.355. VISIBILITY REQUIREMENTS. (a) A clearance lamp, identification lamp, or side marker lamp shall be visible and recognizable under normal atmospheric conditions at all distances from 50 to 500 feet from the vehicle on the side, front, or rear where the lamp is mounted.

I think they should be considered decorative cab lights instead of clearance lights, but sounds like there needs to be a place to get your truck inspected for compliance with state laws so future tickets don't come your way.

If the original poster wants to fight the ticket he could, with pictures of his truck at those distances, but the down side is most police patrol the same area all the time so he is most likely being picked out. i know, I was young before and the same guy kept pulling me over for the smallest details, like tires sticking out past the wheel wells or exhaust that was too loud.

Did he right down the code section of the law he was referring to? Then you can look it up and at least read it for yourself.

This would be true ON A VEHICLE THAT REQUIRED clearance lights, but I would think this would have no bearing on a vehicle that does not require clearance lights.
