Default Pulled over for smoked cab lights!

I was curious if anyone else has gotten a ticket for having smoked cab lights?

wow that's a new one on me, I'm assuming this has happened to you? are you talking about cab lights over the roof of the cab? I was thinking of tinting the cab light on my GMC but I sold it before I got around to it. Wouldnt think there would be a problem seeing where they aren't a safety (for want of a better term) related light like tail lights or marker lights. Heck I had tinted tail light on my pontiac and never got any flack for it. Maybe it depends on the State you are in?

I'd fight that one - since cab lights (aka clearance lights) are only required by law if a vehicle is over a certain height (which varies by state but NEVER includes pickup trucks.

Since you are not required to have them, common sense would dictate that there is no minimum brightness required...

The officer said a new law went into affect 3 months stating that any own lights cannot be tinted. I talked to him about it and my truck being a 1500 didn't come stock with them so I talked to him about it but he said the judge can make that decition. I also got a window tint ticket because I quote if I can't have darker window tint than you can't either. Said the officer.

No FACTORY EQUIPT lights can be smoked. You can have as many aftermarket lights that are smoked and even just blacked out(not even working) as long as you arent replacing OEM stuff and they are extra lights.

So, pretty much what you are saying is that if you had your truck covered with spray painted nonworking lights on your cab, then you'd get a ticket. Nah, Cop doesnt know his head from his ***.

Even the 2500/3500's that come with Cab lioghts....you can legally remove them with no problems at all.

What state are you in?

That is some effing garbage if I ever heard it. Wow, what a meathead a$$hole. There are plenty of officers who do a wonderful job and deserve respect, but ********* like that guy give them all a bad name.

You're right on there, most of the LEOs I know are down to earth guys and gals, and I'll stick up for anyone of them when people get to cop bashing...but every now and then you come across one who's got a chip on their shoulder or just having a bad day.

He's just hoping you take the easy route and plead guilty and pay rather than bother with Court and all. Most citizens don't know the law and this is what they take advantage of when writing bogus tickets like this. The only limitations for lighting I believe are no red and or blue lights so there's no confusion with emergency responders (in my state anyhow). Totally do your research and fight this. When you win go to the dollar store, buy $20 worth of cheap taplights, tint them all out and attach them to the truck with magnets lol.

Texas and it was a Williamson County Sheriff that pulled me over. I definitely think I can beat this one but with this you get the days off from work to plead not guilty, our County has always been strict and problematic for me ever since high school. I just figure there would be other stuff more important than a smoked cab light ticket and window tint.
