What do you guys think
I posted a month ago about this topic and I still cant get away from it. I love the look of the sport rams. All my buddies are doing there chevys bumpers and grills to match and there just prepping it really good then spraying with dealership matched paint from o reileys and its turning out really well. Im thinking about just doing my grill and seeing how it lasts and if it does do my bumpers but if it doesnt just buy a new grill off ebay (ive found there selling for around 100-150). Im afraid it wont last though. One guy has had his done for over a year now and the other has had it about 2 months and another one just did it tonight. What are you guys thoughts about doing this and has anyone just took the risk and had good results? Cheapest quote i got was 750 to do grill bumper and rear bumper which I dont have money to blow on that lol or I could do this and get away with it for around 20 bucks lol

well i cant see you getting by with spending just 20 bucks, i used automotivetouchup.com for my fender flares, aerosol base, primer, and clear, they are lasting great. and fender flares recieve abuse, i live on gravel so they are blasted by rocks all day. it will work if you apply paint liberaly. By that i mean DONT put on heavy coats, I mean put on many coats. All paint protection is in the clearcoat. Buy the base from whereaver and aersol it on, if you want have a shop use some good ole 2k urethane clear on it. will last ages. but be warned i have 3 words for you, prep prep and PREP otherwise nothing will last clean all unpainted sanded surfaces with wax and grease remover dx83 by ppg, or mek. Dont wax and grease primered surfaces because it will saturate the primer and stays in and the solven eventually evaporates out after basecoat/clearcoat application and it will lift off. Good luck and remember PREP!

sweet thanks for all the info nate. I cant remember but what did you use on your bumpers and grill? Was it plasti dip? and how is that holding up? so yours isnt chipping up where your tires flip up rocks on your fender flares? Also you think it would be fine sanding down the chrome on the bumpers and doing them or would you just do the grill and not the bumpers? My friends arnt doing there chromne on there truck just the plastic on the grill and the plastic trim on the front bumper and rear bumper so idk how that would last. Anyone else have this done and has some tips or input

no probs the grille i bought as is, bumpers and rockers were monstalined and holding up great. i sanded all of the chrome and paint down with a DA, i actually have a long strand that flew onto my tire. its still there after two months! even though its been on the tire that flexes every rotation and been to 60+mph speeds and constant sandblasting from gravel. my paint on the rear bottom maybe inch or so is a little chipped but you cant see it unless your looking for it. ill post a pic tonight
