Anybody know about tires?
So, I have a 2005 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi Daytona... I'm going to need new tires soon and I've looked around, I have the 275/60-R20 Rims (The Chrome Clad ones with the large rounded spokes), but I cannot seem to find any "Low Profile" tires for it. It just seems that this particular rim size is JUST for trucks, and I can't get car tires. It's 2WD, so I don't need all that tread, and smaller tires means lower ride height. Thanks if anyone can help me.

Change the tire height and you change the speedometer readout. I take my 2wd offroad a bunch and I have A/T tires. It handles offroad just fine. but then again i'm just driving around in the yard.
Also, the larger tires are made for the extra weight of a truck or suv, which the vehicle weighs twice as much as a car.

I would check that again, I know my Quad Cab weighs 7400 lbs. urs should be closer to 6500 lbs if it's only 2 door. You would need to turn your truck into a tube chassis to make that happen. The frame is pretty bulky. Also, I think you may need to change rims to get low profile tires. If I'm thinking right, the bead on truck and SUV tires is a lot larger than those of car tires.

Haha, if you look under my truck there really is nothing besides a gas tank and a muffler. The title says 4k and change on the weight, but it could be wrong. But, I guess the tires don't even have to be really low profile, but maybe just a little less tire than I have no. I just don't know if they make them for my rim, and if they do... What kind of tires do I need?

My truck weights less than 6,000 lbs and that's with a lift kit so idk where this guy is getting 7400 lbs from but with your reg cab you're close to 5k I would say. As for the tires I know you can definitely get low profile tires for our trucks. Look at the lowering kit section in the FAQ and How To area since most of those guys run low pros. You might need to get new wheels but I'm sure they have something for the stock 20s

My quad cab weighs 5300lbs, so I would guess your reg cab is probably around 4800. Chally is designed for down low handling (hence the low profiles). All you have to do is look for different tire sizes. I would stay with a similar width (275) and start looking for lower middle numbers. My stock size for my 03 was 275/55 (slightly lower profile than those godawful 275/60's). The lower that second number is the less percentage of the width it is (which equates to less sidewall). Try a 275/40 and look around there. You may have to vary the width to find what you are looking for.
