My 2 1/2" went on almost five years and 28K ago. I like the stance.

Is your truck a 4x4 or 4x2?
I'm sure experiences differ, as the way they are lifted is different.
I've had my 3" spindles for over a year now, and there have been zero issues.

Installed a Rough Country kit, including new shocks all around, a few months ago, and couldn't be happier with it.

The previous owner of mine cranked up the T-bars and I added some shock extenders. I haven't had any issues with it. Been like this for 2.5 years now. If you do this you need the extenders or everytime you hit a good bump it will feel like the front of the truck is being pulled off the ground.
