Default Buying a Ram...

Hello. I'm new to these trucks. I'm considering buying an 02-05 Dodge ram. I'm dreaming of an srt-10, but need a 4 seater, so that's out of the question (don't want an srt-10 with automatic).
Which is the one to get? 4,7 or the hemi or the diesel? I'm leaning towards the diesel one, as I have this idea that it is the most reliable one and the least thirsty one. Don't know if I'm right though.
How about mileage? Does these trucks handle high mileage well? I'm thinking that it's not safe to buy one with more than 95000miles, am I wrong?
What's the difference between the 1500/2500/3500 ones?
why does some have chrome grills and some have painted?
And last, what do I have to lokk for when shopping for a used one?

Lots of questions from a truck newbie, but i have always loved the 02-05 rams. Hopefully i will become an owner soon.

well the 5.9 cummins with proper care will last you as many miles as you can drive. they are awesome engines. if youre looking between gas, go with the hemi. about the same mpg as the 4.7 but more power. the mileage for hemi's can vary. some guys on here have run them pretty far, theres a thread on here if u search for it for guys with high mileage. depends on how well it was maintained and if it was beat on or not. but theres a HUGE difference between a hemi and a cummins in terms of power/torque and mpgs. cummins ive heard are around 20-21 high way where as my truck is about 17-18 at 68mph. hope this answers some of your questions.

V6,

If you need a build sheet for any truck you are considering, PM me the vin and I will send you one out. That will give you all standard features and options that were on the vehicle when built. I will also send any recall info that may be on the vehicle.

If you get a diesel it will be a 2500 or 3500, 1500's are only gas. If you decide on gas, it's the hemi or nothing (I hate the 4.7 lol). The difference between the 2500 and 3500 would be that the 2500 is lighter and won't be able to pull as much whereas the 3500 (which usually comes in a dually) is heavier and can pull more load. The 3500 probably have slightly stronger suspensions/gears too but don't take my word for it.
