Was a big Camaro follower some years ago but I don't remember the v6 being offered with a 6spd around those years, only 5. Was a v8 ever removed from that car?

Nah, from the new body style in 92 or 93, you could get the 6/6 combo. I saw a bunch of them when I was a used car tech at an automall. The LT1/6 speed was VERY rare, however.
