E-Fan+180 stat=worse MPG
So I finally got around to installing my flex-a-lite 183 e-fan and Jet 180 stat. I knew going in the stat alone could hurt MPG a little but I figured the gain from the e-fan would even it out or end up a little on the good side. So far after about a half a tank of gas this seems not to be the case. I was averaging about 11 mpg before and am now closer to 10 mpg. Hmmmm. The truck definitely seems to run better. Feels like less drag on the engine starting out and on hills. I do mostly city driving with a lot of hills. I did reset the computer during the install so could it be still learning?
As for the install the e-fan kit was great. Bolted right on. Used my superchips to data log the engine temps and have it kicking on at 183 degrees. The variable speed on the fan is nice too.
Any thoughts?

It could also depend on where you live. Gas stations could have started using winter blend gas with yields lower MPGs. Also since the weather is colder out the engine is already cooler to begin with so those mods may be ineffective until the weather warms up again. Just my thoughts

I pretty much agree with you. The cooler stat would mean richer mix (more fuel) but the fan should make up for it and then some. I have almost the same setup, but since I bought my fan in '05 it's the older model 180 but use the same t-stat.
Give the computer time...
