Default Hemi vs. Cummins

I have an 05 hemi and I pulled up next to an 09-12 Cummins at a red light and we both stomped on it when it turned green, I expected to get smoked but it was pretty much tied til he had to turn. I'm guessing this happened because he was mostly or all stock, I just have flowmaster exhaust, did I just get lucky? Or was I underestimating my hemi?

Yep, CTD are very de-tuned from the factory. However, hook a trailer to both and theres not match. They are straight 6 which makes most of its power in lower Rpms.

Take all the emissions crap and add a mild tune and you'll be sucking down all the black coal

if all else is apples to apples (4x4 and or extended cab etc) that cummins is a bit heavier. as stated hemi will spool up faster. no contest in torque tho.

The HEMI can get it in the top end. That's where the HEMI shines. It was built for the higher RPM's and can spool up higher. But the CTD will be right their the whole time tho. It's a serious powerhouse too. A lot easier to build up also.

That Flowmaster isn't helping yiu out AT ALL.
8500lbs vs 5000lbs is really what this was all about. So, basically a Schoolbus kept up with you.....lol
Hemi's dont gain Near as much with a tuner as Diesels do.
