Hey gang!

I'm looking to get an HID kit for the truck, but I need some help with exactly what to get. I want the true BLUE ones. I've been told those are 10000k, and I've been told 12000k. So, I leave this up to you. I want hi-low for the headlights, and some for the fog lights. So, this is where you guys come in. What do I need to buy?

Real projector headlights so you dont blind oncoming drivers!
Then again, 10000k HID's arent that bright. About the same as Halogens, slightly brighter.


8000k is blue-10000k is alot of blue 12000k is blue/purple

4300k is OEM and to be considered Daylight. It's the brightest HID light there is.
5000k is pure white and you lose 15% of light as compared to 4300k
6000k loses 30% light as compared to 4300k
8000k loses 40% light as compared to 4300k
10000k loses almost 60% of light as compared to 4300k
12000k is just pointless unless your going for looks. Halogen bulbs put out more light than 12000k.
Blue light is "unuseable" light to the human eye. The more blue you go, the more wasted light you get. Blue gets lost fast in the distance as well, so it's ability to travel far isn't there due to it's wavelength and saturation

8000k will have lots of blue yet be much brighter than halogen. You need Bi-xenon bulbs.

i got a set of 9006 for fogs and h13 for low beams they arewhiteish blue more blue then white. ill sell u both with ballasts/ wiring and relay kit for 60.00 shipped.

 

lol you are going to run into serious problems with the TPIM system b/c you have a 2008....

You should have bought ballasts that are certified for the Can Bus system and you should have bought a harness that is also meant for this system.

With what you have now you can wire in the load resistors into that harness for it to work correctly, or you can PM me and I'll give you a link to a harness that will require much less work and also make sure everything works correctly.

 

I never really understood why people who colored bulb output want to look good for everyone else who sees them versus being able t actually see the road and where they are driving. Thats a big difference and a big safety factor.

There is a reason your truck didnt have blue headlights as an option when you bought it

i orginally bought 8000k hids from hidextra the ballasts were filled with dirt sand and rocks. i was like ???wtf??? i returned them and they sent me canbus units. those still didnt work with the harness relay. either way the 8k was to blue not like the 8k i used to have in my old car. so im just rockn white oem bulbs.

 

god why do people still use HIDExtra? they are scam artists, with horrible customer service, and even more questionable morals...

those are the reasons why I like the retrofit source... they've been nothing but awesome for me and all my past customers.

 

i didnt know. i googled hids dodge ram and theyre one of many who came up, so i just went with it. I mean they did send me new units and helped me when i said there was an issue so i give them some credit, but either way i blew money and still dont have hids. screw it tho im tired of wasten money like this when i could be saving for a lift kit. ill put the 9006 hids that did work for the fog lights in the headlights of my tractor trailer. at least ill get some use from them.

 

HIDs work and they really are simple. I have had them in my truck for years. I even have them on my street bike.
