Unhappy

I had quite a few mods on my Hemi and I still think this truck will beat it stock. 365 HP and 420 TQ and the TQ peak is at 2500 RPMs. I have the 3.73 gear in the new truck and based on MFG info it will pull and haul more than my Hemi. I think with all that low end TQ it will do it too.

Theres a guy out there with the same truck running 12.80 in the 1/4 mile with just a tune, y-pipe, and 170 thermostat. I would love to do a tune (80+ HP and 80+ TQ) but dont want to void the warranty.

Dont get my wrong I loved my Ram but I think this truck just has newer and better technology.

What kind of tune are you talking about that gives 80+ HP?

The new Ecoboost's can be tuned easily to get that kind of power... I dont know if I would want one though.. A buddy just bought a 2012 f-150 with the 5.0 and it runs strong.. The ford would be my 2nd choice for a new truck.

id buy same truck with a 5.0 V8 ecoboost is nothing but trouble from what im hearing and there not cheap to fix the turbos are crap and they dont last. im sure it will be fine until warranty is up. and ford is full of it when it comes to there claimed mpg, the ecoboost gets much less than rated mpg

You are correct. Some guys are having problems. There was a problem with the cold air condensor but there has since been a recall from Ford. The newer ecoboosts already have the fix. I think your going to have problems with anything new. They have had 2 years to iron things out with the F150.

As far as mileage goes. Yes alot of guys are crying about mileage in their ecoboosts. Mine said 15 city and 21 highway on the sticker. Right now Im getting 14 and I do 95% city stop and go with lots of hills. Its also winter and the truck has 500 miles on it now. I stay out of the boost as much as I can.

No matter how easy I drove my Hemi I got 10.5 with the same conditions. Im calling my Ecoboost a win there. Bumper to bumper warranty for 6 years so if something breaks I dont have to worry. If its junk after that then so be it but thats a while away.

I also heard that the MPGs improve after the engine has been broken in which is like after 25k or something

Hmm..Yeah maybe having it professionally tuned you can get that much out of it but I've never heard of getting that much HP from an out the box tuner for any vehicle. Either way, it's still a quad cab :P.
