Default Any Thoughts

Well I have been thinking lately. I am wanting to put a diesel in my truck. I have a 2003 1500 Quad Cab. I can get engines and computers for them. But I am stuck. I am thinking of going with a 12v Cummins or a 7.3l powerstroke. I know everyone will dislike the powerstroke but hey its a great engine. I have always liked the 12v, not a huge fan of the 24v for some odd reason. Let me know what anyone thinks.

Questions, Comments, Concerns.

A 4BT would be easier I think and its the common engine swapped into a 1500

Someone on here blew the 360 in their 2002 and replaced it with a 12v Cummins. Spent months getting everything to work correctly.

It was 2wd, so he put 2500 front coils in it but if I remember right he left the rear alone.

what is the difference between the 4BT and the 12V?

I thought about buying my neighbors truck which is a 1996 2500 12V that was hit in the rear. It would give me the motor trans and suspension.

The 4BT is a 4 cylinder and weighs about 300 lbs less and is smaller so sometimes it's easier to fit it in the truck. Plus it doesn't make as much power so you wouldn't have to worry about possible rear end issues or twisting the frame. But I don't think the suspension from a 96 will fit into your 03. But I'm not sure if the solid axle swap is necessary for the diesel or if you could just keep the IFS. I wouldn't see why not.
