Finally got to use my 4x4
I've never owned a set of winter tires and never intend to, unless my province makes it mandatory, which Selinger has said he won't do.
I owned a Dakota 2wd with all seasons, and that was rough in the winter, but if you don't drive like a fool, any combination of tires and vehicle will be fine.

My first car was a 1996 cougar, This beast never had snow tires and there was no amount of snow that could stop this car. It NEVER got stuck (ok, once)
I had an accident with that car and purchased a 1997 cougar....basically the EXACT same car.
The 1997 got stuck in EVERYTHING, then I put snow tires on the back and it STILL got stuck all the time.
There is literally no reasonable explanation for this.

i believe you're thinking the speed limit for shifting from 2wd to 4wd hi in a truck with a manually shifted transfer case. Theoretically there is no speed limit in 4wd hi, but it is generally recommended not to drive at excessive speeds while in 4x4. I do not hesitate to put my truck in 4x4 at highway speeds if the roads are icy/slippery and the situation warrants it. I wouldn't recommend running it in 4x4 at high speeds all the time, but it's not going to hurt it if the roads are slick.
