Default Lock up your owner's manual

Lovely surprise to wake up to this morning.

All that just to steal the owner's manual and cut the end off my GPS cord.

Doubtful No witnesses, and they didn't steal anything with a serial number, so there's no way to track them that way. There was an old cell phone and an old iPod Shuffle in the center console they didn't touch, and they didn't even attempt to take the stereo. They didn't even take the LED flashlight in the glove box. And in the back seat: ratchet straps, jumper cables, and ice scraper, all in plain view, all still there (I know none of those is exciting, but neither is an owner's manual). Either the dumbest thieves ever or the smartest, I haven't quite decided (probably dumbest).

Oh, and on further inspection, they also got away with a mixed CD. Hope they like CCR and the Eagles.

Make sure that there is no paperwork with personal info on it either A) Missing, or B) Looking like it was examined closely. My brother in law is a cop in PA and said that they've had a few instances of vehicular break-ins with seemingly nothing taken, or ridiculous stuff or outright vandalism like what you had happen, then coincidentally these same victims suffer home invasions, as well, a short time later. The thieves/vandals get the owner's address and other information from the registration, insurance and other paperwork in the vehicle. Many times people keep spare keys laying around, as well, and make the home break in even easier.

Either way, that really sucks, man. Hopefully karma catches up with these dregs of society sooner rather than later.

I had thieves break into my girlfriend's car and take the GPS charger. Not the GPS, which was beside it.

But you can't really be surprised about how dumb thieves are. I mean, they're thieves for a reason.

Theives are pretty dumb.
They once broke into my work truck, set all my tools on the ground, took a paperwork folder with NO checks or CC#s just blank service tickets.
On top of that they left some CDs that they stole from someones mailbox.
(This was back when CDs were popular, long before Ipods.)
