How's that 13mpg average workin out for ya? It might cost a little more, but diesel gets better mileage than a comparable gasser.
Except...tuning a diesel isn't so easy anymore. EPA has cracked down on delete tuners. If you're in an emissions area, you might be screwed.

Apples and oranges. First of all, if you are getting 13mpg, something is wrong. The correct comparison for the point, should be the newest gas Ram that they are claiming 25mpg highway vs. the new diesel.

Diesel is only 15 cents more here then 89. So 3, maybe 4 dollars more a tank for twice the range? You're crazy if you don't want that. Plus it can still tow the same amount as the Hemi.

It's also got that whole 4th gen thing going on, which negates any bonus of the new engine. I (personally) think the 4th gen Ram is ugly as sin, and I couldn't wake up to it in my driveway every morning with the same "I love this friggin' truck!" feeling that I get with the 3rd gen, no matter if it's the new engine or a full-on CTD.
Some people (apparently a lot of people) like the 4th gen trucks. Aesthetically, I think it's the biggest mistake Dodge has ever made. But, that is just my opinion, and they seem to be selling just fine without my contribution.

We all have to buy a new truck at some point. Why not get this one? You know with a diesel (even though its not a CTD) will last a hell of a lot longer then our Hemis. And I think the 4th gen looks good. Definitely looks better then the new fords and a hell of a lot better then the Chevys. I'm sure over in Europe you haven't seen many (if any) in person but they look great especially with color matched bumpers it looks down right mean.

30 mpg?! No way. Maybe 17 under the same conditions. If you actually run the numbers, that diesel truck will cost more per mile to operate than the same truck with a Hemi.
