Default Homemade oil seperator

After researching online and this forum, I decided to go ahead and make my own oil separator. I looked at buying a BT or Moroso catch can, but the way our PCV system is set up, I decided to go this way. I spent about $50 at Home Depot to get my supplies. I bought an oil separator, hose, and some fittings and voila, my truck has an air/oil separator system.

Well, it depends what size the connections are on your filter. Mine was 3/8 NPT. So I had to use a 3/8 x close nipple, then a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter to connect the hose.

Wonder how well it will work.... as the Automotive Oil is a bit heavier than air compressor oil generally so it might get clogged up pretty quickly....

Keep us posted on how it works out, I am curious.

It is 5W20 fully synthetic, so it might not be an issue. But I will keep you guys posted.

I think mine is 3/8 NPT. I've been having to do research on the different fittings.
My hoses are 3/8 SAE, so will the barbed fitting fit on the 3/8 hose?

Yes, as long as the ID of the hose is 3/8

I haven't taken a close look at it yet...probably won't see anything for a few thousand km's. But I will keep you posted. I'll take a look in a coupe of weeks and let you know what's in there(if anything!)
