Gauges for towing
I have a 07 ram 1500 4.7L 2wd. I have a pretty decently heavy cabover camper. I already put on heavier leave springs. Going to put on rear away bar and do k&n intake and exhaust. We have a lot of steep grade hills out here and want to monitor my truck better. Was wondering if its worth putting in a trans temp gauge, and any other ones I should do?
I have a BullyDog tuner and it has the capabilities to monitor trans temp, intake temp, load, timing, and a bunch of other parameters in real time. Up to 4 parameters can be displayed at once. Also the tuner gives you a bit of a power bump. For about $400 you get a multifunction device that is capable of doing WAY more than single gauge. Something to ponder.
That is good to know! I will have to look into that. My dad has a tuner like that in his diesel to monitor everything. I just didn't know if it's worth it on a gas truck. I guess the more you can monitor the better.
You WILL NOT see as dramatic of results on a gas tuner compared to a diesel. You will notice a difference though, and the ability to monitor whats going on with your truck while towing or hauling is a must IMO.
Edge does. 18hp/21torque gain at the wheels. That was the other tuner I was contemplating going with but the Bully had better gains for my hemi. Maybe look into the Edge Evolution for your 4.7
