03 4.7 price for used motor / tranny?
I apologize if this is the wrong section of the forum for this but.
i got my smashed up 03 4.7 ram sitting in the yard. It was a rollover so the body is only good for scrap. I need to put this thing on craigslist. I can't pull the motor and tranny myself so my idea at the moment is I basically wanna sell the thing for the price of the power train and whoever buys it gets the body to scrap. Plus maybe the chrome wheels. Very fair deal in my opinion. Anyway. What should I expect from the motor and tranny? I had 150k on it, one of the heads was rebuilt a few thousand miles back. Some mechanics have told me, it's not a HEMI.. Some say its still a workhorse of a V8, it's good stuff.
So I thought, why not ask here...

I bought a 2008 4.7l engine with 4,000 actual miles from a dealership on the shelf ready to go for $1800. I sold a 185,000 mile 4.7 engine on eBay for $300. So I'm thinking probably $400-$600 for your engine if the buyer needs to remove it themselves. I don't have any opinion on the transmission value.
Thanks, that's good info.
That's less money than I was told by a few mechanics who are in the loop.
I just don't have the helping hands needed to pull the motor and tranny and don't want to pay over the top for it, however the price I was offered by scrapyards was LESS for the whole deal than you mentioned was the price for the motor alone. Hence me trying to go a different route.
