I have owned fords in the past and been very happy. current truck is a GMC not pleased! I am looking at a 2003 dodge ram 1500 SLT 2X4, it has 90k miles. I am looking for any suggestions.

Get the hemi for sure, don't even bother with the 4.7. Have an OASIS report pulled on the vehicle. Take it for a good long test drive, get everything up to operating temp. Good luck.
