Dodge makes it a Power Wagon. Just a name like Silverado.
Of course today's Power Wagons have a couple extra bells and whistles that you could put on a Ram but that doesn't make a Power Wagon.

i know dodge calls it a power wagon, lol..... i just wanted to know if maybe it had a cam shaft for more torque, or a really low gear ratio for towing, and pulling, or if it had a heavy duty drive train, and suspension.... i have a 2500 hd, and was wondering what the difference was, lol. my brother had a 78 power wagon, 318 4x4 auto. didn't seem any different than a regular d150 back then.

Not really. Just another way of marketing.
Sure. The 2011 or 2012 I looked at a few years ago had factory lockers in the diffs. Selectable also.
Factory winch. Factory lift. Etc etc.
Sweet truck.
All of which can be put on a Ram.
So really. Its just a sales gimmick.
And it works. Cuz I'd love a new PW. Lol.

yeah, pretty much..... you could spend a few thousand on that stuff, or they get you for another 10 or 15 grand for that stuff already installed on the truck, lol. the lockers would be nice. granted i have the limited slip rear wich is nice. i'd only do the 2 inch lift, they look sweet when lifted a few inches. i have no need for anything higher.

Hmmm, interesting.

My Power Wagon doesn't have E-lockers, or an unlocking sway bar.

No bells and whistles, everything is manual.

Certainly no HEMI!

I wonder if i can get that stuff installed under warranty?

It was brought back in 2005, and the Power Wagon is not just a nameplate upgrade. It starts as a RAM 2500 with a Power Wagon specific frame. No other truck uses the Power Wagon's frame.
PW frame part# 55398868AC
2500 4x4 frame part# 55398813AC

The rear AAM 10.5 differential uses the larger AAM 11.5 axle shafts. The rear differential is also limited slip, even when not locked. 4.56:1 ratio gears were used until 2014, when they went to the standard 2500 4.10:1.

Then there's also the integrated winch, electronically disconnecting sway bar, slight lift (less than 2" in the front, 1" rear), Bilstein shocks, stronger torque convertor, different fan clutch, stronger steering gear (compared to standard 2500), and different low range 4x4 throttle mapping, among a few other little things.

How did they mount the winch? I've seen the cable/hook inbetween the front tow hooks but was it attached to the PW only frame? Or is it something easy and can be installed on say... an 04 Hemi 2wd?

It is mounted to a cross-member that is bolted to the front of the frame. The Winch itself is basically a Warn M12000, but the drum turns in the opposite direction. Don't quote me, but I do not think the standard 2500 frame has the required mount points for the cross-member, but I could be wrong. Even if it didn't, I can't imagine fabricating a mount would be that difficult.

Here are some pics of the mount: pirate4x4.com
Here is Warn's page for the winch: Warn's Power Wagon winch
