Default P77 Chrysler driveshaft/detach recall.......UPDATE 7/17/15 POST #6

The fix sounds more like a band-aid.....

The affected trucks were built from January 28, 2004 to August 3, 2005.

There's a 98' in my sig but I own a 05' now.

I just purchased an 05 1500 regular cab, not sure how to tell if my truck is affected. any way to tell the year of manufacture? I am assuming its in the VIN somewhere. Wish they would do a rebuild on the rear end, I think mine has a super slow leak :/ (from the pinion seal). wonder if there is any way to convince them it was a result of this potential issue :P

Mine falls into the build dates (May 04) but I haven't received anything yet. Very curious about it however.

Bump.......my 05' is at the dealer right now getting the fix, they said the whole differential needs to be reconditioned whatever that means.

I'm thinking bearings and seals.

I also asked if they are going to replace the ring and pinion if there was a chance I could change ratios while they're at it, they said nope.

I'll post an itemized list of what they did to it, also getting the airbag inflator replaced before it frags me in an accident.

I just received that recall notice last week. I need to make an appointment for my truck, but just haven't had the time. They are having to redo your whole differential? Damn. I JUST clicked "buy" on all the Royal Purple fluids I'll need to do both diffs and the transfer case! Hmmmm...

Well, let us know what all they do. Good luck.
