I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.7 Hemi. I was hoping at least a few of you on here could settle an "argument" between me and my significant other. I not only get annoyed but I also don't think it's good to always be shifting an automatic, especially MY truck. So can you guys give me advice on wether or not it's good or bad to be doing this? I get that you have the ability to shift and use over-drive, but if you aren't hauling and just driving around town I don't see a need for it. And does it affect the motor constantly shifting my automatic? Thanks for those of you who can take the time to answer. Oh BTW I am new to forums at all and this is my first time on this site, so I apologize for anything stupid I may say.
Do you mean manually shifting via the column shifter? Want to be clear, because your truck will automatically shift through the gears on its own, but your asking if it's a good idea to shift an automatic. If you mean manually shifting an automatic transmissiojn, no, it wont hurt anything, kinda pointless though. Put the thing in D (or OD) and drive it. If you feel the need to shift, go buy a cheap beater manual car.
I had thought since this was a Dodge forum I could get someone to answer my question but no on seems to be very helpful. Apparently I should've tried somewhere else.

What else do you need help with? I said it won't hurt it but dont do it if it bugs you. You need someone to talk to your BF or something? What else do you need? Your annoyed at something your BF does. What is anyone here supposed to do about that? Trying to understand what it is you need exactly?
