Shortys are better than nothing (stock manifold), gains are about 1/3 of what you'd see from long tubes...

Now why would you spend $1000 ish on headers. My long tubes were around $350 and even having them custom ceramic coated at a local shop only added another $150 to them. Granted this was in 2006 but Pacesetter Long Tubes can't have gone up that much...

Factory coating is about the same price, but yeah if you aren't going to install them yourself then the cost is gonna be around a grand.

The install isn't very hard, even with cutting out the cats and re welding them back in and extending the O2 sensor wires it was still just about 4 hours in the driveway.

If you are going to do shortys then it'll be bolt on, no way you'd need to pay for install...

Ya exactly what i was thinking i would also have a hell of a time finding someone to put cats back on not in the factory spot. Thats why i asked if shortys were even worth it before i bought them thanks for the input

I installed JBA shorties on my 2008. The tone changed a little bit and the midrange power increased a bit which was noticeable when towing.

Shorties were not hard at all. Pull the fender liners out, squirt the bolts and remove.

If you have to pay for install, I would just opt for a different mod. Shorties are not worth it to pay anyone to install. Long tube price would be costly and I'm sure there are other things you could better spend your money on.

Do you have to lift the engine at all to install shorties? The BBK pdf directions on their page show that the engine mounts need to be loosened and the engine raised up for clearance. Is there a way around that?

If that's the case, I'd pick a different brand. Hell, the long tubes I had on my '04 were easy. Just had to remove the wheel well liners. Was one bolt hole didn't line up perfectly so I had to wallow it out a bit. Only issue I had...
