sorry need to vent. Just got done tearing into my rear axle only to find one of the clutch plate alignment clips sitting in there.
sadly looks like 2 are missing and only found one.
Bought this 2002 pos w/ 32000 miles on it and now has 50000..
sorry this shouldn't happen and Def. shouldn't be COMMON..
I'm at least hoping that the prev. owner took out the other one.. Cover was sloppy sealed w/ orange RTV.

Guess I remember the old days when a differential was the last of ones worries..

I want this thing gone...
That said am I correct in assuming one can stick a different brand in the housing?
Looking at Auburn currently but admit this is daunting..

Doesn't help my state of the art furnace just broke for the second time either..

My 08 has 92k on it with no LS issues It looked good at the last fluid change. By the way, it's an AAM 9.25 axle, not a Dana. https://www.aam.com/. There are a couple of aftermarket LS units out there for the 9.25 axle.

 

Replaced it w/ an Auburn.. New bearings all around..(pinion ect.. lots of metal was inside from spacers) inc. axles.
Turns out front right wheel bearing was bad..

After al that was done, was told the lower ball joint was bad..

Overreacted to that one in my above message.. Doen't look terrribly hard..

$1800 later and I ca ndrive it w/out vibration and metal bits churning in the axle..
did I mention it only has 50K on it?

Anyways now the pass. side window switch doesn't work at all. Always was intermittent..

The button on the drivers side for window lock out has finally totally failed..
Can't easily find one for a single cab.. (only 2 window switch) for under $150..
