I own a 2004 (3rd gen.) 1500 slt quad cab 4x4 (with the 5.7 magnum hemi). I dont know what years the trucks have full or are mostly interchangable with mine other than the 2003. Thank you.

The generations tend to be mostly alike. However, the interchange books (computer programs now) show what particular parts interchange. There are running changes through a production run. Either suppliers change, a problem appears and there's a minor redesign to fix it and so on. Sometimes another part will work but the interchange companies don't research like they used to. When I ran a salvage yard, there would be notes in the pages that part number such and such would work if flipped over or some such.

3rd gen is pretty much broken up into two sections, pre-CAN bus (02-05) and CAN bus (06-08). Almost everything (with a few notable exceptions) within those two sub-families is directly interchangeable and then there are less things tat are interchangeable between the 02-05 and 06-08. What are you looking for?
