I bought a 03 ram 1500 4wd the person i bought it from put electric seats in it and didnt hook them up it had manual seats before can anyone tell me how to go about wiring them up to work? WHATS HOT AND WHATS NOT??
it looks like all it needs is a fused power feed to pin one, and pin 7 on the seat switch connector for the drivers side. And a ground, of course.... that should be pin 2.
I grabbed the floor harness from a jyard. Haven't installed mine yet, but you can separate the wires for the seat and pin them into the connetor underdash and have it setup like factory. Pretty sure alll the right wires go to the large connector under dash, it was for mine and that truck is totally bare bones.
Your driver side should have a hot lead coming from the truck that may or may not be energized. Just need a multimeter or test light to test whether it does or not. If it doesn't, then the circuit breaker in the fusebox is missing to energize the circuit. In a power seat 2003, this is the harness coming from the floor, large faded red wire in the middle is the main hot:
Here is a picture of a wiring harness I pulled out of a 2004 with power seats. From the engine side, all the wires are typically there - just have to add the extra bit from the connector that clips onto the main harness connector under the dash. The heavy orange wire is battery positive, heavy black goes to the splice under the sill panel and continues to the ground lug behind the left kick panel.
