Think I messed up my door handle
Evening everyone. 2005 3500. I had a Bonehead moment today. After work today, I went to start my pickup to let it thaw out. It was snowy and icy and like 14 degrees. My driver door wouldn’t open, like it was frozen. Tried the other doors, same result. I pulled on the driver and passenger handles pretty darn hard. On both sides, more so the passenger side, the whole handle sticks out from the door body now (the rear part of the handle). There’s like an 1/8 gap now when it was snug to the body. I can push it in snug, but it goes back to sticking out.
What could I have bent? Is it possible I bent the sheet metal the handle is screwed to? I figured the handle would break before I bend sheet metal. Surely the sheet metal is strong enough to withstand something like that. I’m not that strong.
oh by the way, I hate to admit this, but it helps to open the door if it’s actually unlocked….thats right, in my head I thought I had unlocked it. I was trying to open a locked door. Super dumb I know.

Door handles are usually just pot metal, and when it gets truly cold out, it becomes rather brittle....... They aren't designed to withstand a lot of force, so, likely just broke on it's pivot arms. Replacing the handle is the likely fix. Have to pull the door panel, and have a look inside to know for sure though.
