Shifter selector issues
I have an 07 1500 5.7L. I drove it about 15 miles earlier to go pick up a lawn mower. Got back in it to leave and the selector is saying it is in reverse when the truck is clearly in park. Tried pulling it down to neutral so that I could start it and it bypasses neutral and goes to drive. It will let me remove the keys and everything just like it should when in park but because the selector says reverse, it won't start. I've checked linkages and everything seems fine. Any ideas?
It won't go into neutral. When I pull the lever down it bypasses neutral and goes to drive. No neutral, no park. Sitting in the dudes driveway as of now
In park it says it's in reverse, in reverse it says reverse, in neutral it either says reverse or drive, in drive it says drive, in 2nd it says 2nd, and in 1st it says 1st. All gears are right except park and neutral.
Gonna go look at it in a hour or so but can't find an external range sensor. It is located inside the transmission on the 545? Found a great video on an easy fix for one but his truck was a 2500.

545 is a 545, regardless of what it's bolted into.
I had thought the range sensor was on the outside of the trans, right by where the shift linkage hits it..... But, I haven't played with much of the newer stuff.

Upon further research, it looks to be a whole pack, that includes the range sensor, that has to be changed thats attached to the valve body inside the trans. Wish it was like the older stuff.
Ouch. Well that sucks. So instead of a repair for under 50 bucks, it's going to be in the hundreds of dollars..... That's just idiotic, and is one of the main reasons I drive a truck from 1998.......
