Best bang for your buck by far is the 6.1 cam. You can pick up a 6.1 cam, pushrods and valve springs from www.airram.com for $420 and you can expect anywhere from 25-35 rwhp.

A cam install is not a very tough thing to do. I know there are instructions for it over on www.hemitruckclub.com but I have known tons of guys who did the install in their garage so check that out before you rule installing it your self out of the picture. I'll bet install of that from a shop would be around $100 but I'm not positive. But if you think about it 25-35 rwhp for $500 is pretty darn cheap.

moto, it would cost more then $100 to install the cam, springs, & rods...it books at 9.2 hrs just to do the cam...prolly lookin at closer to $500 to install...

the t-stat i got was from Jet, i lived in northern iowa (about 1 hr south of minnesota border) so i know all too well what the weather is like. as for results, from what i've heard/seen theres in increase in hp and otrque however, i have seen people with a decrease in fuel economy but it wasnt by much...i'll be installing mine sometime next week if i can get around to it...

would the fans need to be upgraded with the lower temp t-stat? - nice cheap easy mod for a few ponies.

i think ill get some pricing on an install of the cam, springs and rods.... just to see what it would be. i really like the idea of swapping these.

ThanksMuch!

you raise a good question, normally the t-stat doesnt open untill the temp is above 195...there might be a way to reprogram it to turn the fans on when it reaches like 180 or something...i guess i dont really know, have to ask my instructor tomorrow and see what he says

Blue Blur, if I were you I would look into doing the cam swap on your own. They really are not that hard to do.
