Default 2007 lift wanted - $700 budget

hey everybody, i'm kinda new to the forum. However, i have tried to research this topic and haven't had great success. I have an 07 Ram 1500 and am lookin to lift it. I want to spend about 700 bucks to get everything set up right. I'd love suggestions and advice. At this point im thinking a body lift, wheel well liners, and some nerf bars....hopefully that kind of completes the look. also, i have found that pretty much 06 and 07 trucks take all the same parts...correct me if im wrong. thanks for the help.

The 06-07 are the same except for the taillights. The 07 tails are wired differant than the 06-back. I have an 07 also. Been reading this forum and dodge talk a lot to find out how to lift. A body lift might be a better choice.A lot of 06 guys are complaining of vibration with the leveling kits. I'm stuck on what to do with my Ram.I only foresee one problem with the wheel well liners. Will they fit with a body lift? I think they set and mount on the frame rail. You might have to modifyyour mount points. Just guessing. Don't take my word for it.The nerf bars would help cover the body lift and is a good choice.Good luck! I'm curious as to what a body lift on a stock truck looks like. I have seen pictures of trucks with both suspension and body lifts. Post some pics and let me know if you run into any problems with the body lift. Please.

Well.,, you could do a body lift, and have to worry about fitment issures of your gas tank filler neck, wheel well guards, radiator placement and all that. Or, you could just get a spacer kit up front for say 3" and blocks for the rear, like 2" or 3". Even better, you could do rear leaf spring add-a-leaf kits. A spacer and block setup would probablly cost you $150 for the both of them together. At least this type of lift will be functional, and stock shocks/struts can handle up to 3". I'm running 2" lift with spacers and blocks right now on a 06 dakota. Handles great, a tad bit stiffer in the front, but nothing to worry about. If you did a $150 lift, and then threw say a few inch larger tires on there if you wanted, you could be looing at about a 4" lift. Or you could just say 2" without bigger tires. I wouldnt go the body lift route though.

There is a whole lot that you will need to change when doing a body lift vs a suspension lift. The tank filler neck and radiator are just a couple of the many changes you will need to make... important things like brake lines, bupper placement, pretty much any wiring and plumbing that runs along the frame and attaches to the body will need to be inspected and most likly relocated or lengthened. On top of that, the only clearance that you gain is the height differance made by the tires. I would wait and save a little more money to do the suspension lift to do it right. Since you have a 1500 you have IFS vs solid axle... mostly meaning your lift will cost more.

save your cash a bit longer and do it right, not cheap. You could do a 2in leveling kit install and up your tire size a bit to acheive a higher ride height, but tires will cost you over $700. Sell you old meats to make up the difference. Lift kits are like breast implants...soon after the job is complete, you wind up wishing you had gone a bit larger. Save, save, save. Then blow your cash on a nice 6in kit and some 36x13.50's.
