I have recalls that need to be done, three of them. I asked the dealer if I get a rental and was told only if I bought the extended warranty. Is this true?

 

NO!!!! You have certain parameters with dealerships... If they have a warrenty issue and they havein their book that the issue will take an hour then you will have to wait.... If they give you a time frame and it says 1/2hour but they see that its goign to take longer, then they provide you with a loaner... My dealership stopped giving out loaners for its just too much in gas expense. So now we have a desk in our showroom strictly for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and people that wait in service can rent the car for the day or more if they wish... That works out the best...

 

Be semi acertive with your dealer and they suck up to you. An time any of my vehicles are in the shop for longer than an hour, at least estimated at an hour, I will demand a loaner and get one. Their revenge on me is they give me a minivan normally which is pure torture for me. The transformation to yuppie is complete when you owna minivan (driving one that is a loaner is not much better), IMHO.

I took my Ram in for the G02 recall this morning. It's a 5-hour job. They did the paperwork, asked me for the keys. I said, here you go, where's my loaner? They said, sorry we don't offer loaners.

I said, well I can't just sit here for 5 hours. They said we'll get you a shuttle bus to your residence.

I said, I don't think so.

They would not budge, so I got in my truck and left, and they didn't give a d*mn. I will be looking for a new dealer tomorrow...

Yeah its great to see the service after the sale.... These jackasses dont give a ****. I was told that chrysler would give me a rental but I would have to pay for it on the front end and they would reimberse me later. Depending on your dealership they might have loaners, but in my case my selling dealership was over 2 hrs away and I wasnt going to drive ll the way back to them.... the dealership that I took it to said they couldnt give me a loaner because I didnt buy from them..... They wine and dine you when your in the buyers driver seat but once you have signed your life away and them tires hit the road out in front of the dealer parking lot they dont care if they ever see ya again.... One thing I can say about my local chevy dealer, I bought used truck from them with and extended warranty and any kinda ssue I had they said bring it back and we will have a car waiting for you..... Not saying I hate my dodge , Ijust wish my chevy dealer sold dodges

 

On the phone with DC corporate as I type this...they are calling the dealership directly and have me on hold while they do it...

 

DC told the dealer I am in deed authorized a rental for this recall.

 

Maybe they just like me better but every dealership I have bought a vehicle from over the years for a car has given me a loaner whenever I turned in my vehicle for services lasting more than an hour. Every now and then I have had to get the manager to give thedude in the service departmenta cranial/rectal realignment but I always get a loaner.

 

no one gives a d*** about the customer anymore. its a shame because it seems like everyday im having this discussion or seeing another instance. This country has lost much of its moral and most of its decent people. no one is willing to do the job right and take care of the customer.
