when pulling the old cam can you just pull it out ? i thought you had to turn it or something to get the rods off the cam? what about placing the new one in? slides right in or does it have to go in a certain way?

Ya you have it right, Spin the cam a couple of times to set the lifters in their retainersand slowly start pulling it out and turning it at the same time. Another tip is to leave the push rods seated on the lifters when you spin the cam, this will give you a visualthat the lifters are staying in their retainers while you pull the cam out.

You might want a damper puller and a damper installer tool. all the gaskets are reusable.Enough coolant to refill an a oil filter and oil for a fresh oil change. This link will be extremly helpful for you. http://www.hemitruckclub.com/Install...min%20Hemi.htm

Once you get it apart it will make more sense to you how everything comes apart an goes together, the hardest part of the install is taking off all the accesories. With the cam I got there was no need to replace the springs, as long as you go with a mild cam like the 260 with close to the same lift as your stock cam there is no need to replace the springs. You might ask why put a cam with the same lift as the factory cam? It's not so much the lift but its the duration of the lift and lobe seperation. Lift is good as well but then you have to upgrade your valvetrain as well, the main reason why is the more the valve opens the more it has to compress the spring, compress the spring to much and you end up with to muchspring bind which will eventually get you a broken sping and a dropped valve. Another reason is the more you push the valve open the faster the spring has to be able to pull it back out of the way of the piston and to eliminate valve float at higher rpm'sThe cam I got opens the valves faster, holds them open longer and then closes them quicker. It all comes down to more air in and more exhaust out.
