Yep I luv my 12w3 and my jl 400 wat amp. Thing is you definately pay for the quality of JL. My sub was 230 amp was 350 and box was 150. but i'm more than happy, had it for two years and it hits as good or better as back then.

As for mid bass, anyone seen the new eight inch woofer JL is making meant specifically for midbass, designed to work in infinite space (no box required) and can perform down to 40 Hz, it's gotta be one of the best midbass solutions i've seen. Definately want a set for my system. Or some MB Quart components but quart is way to expensive

 

jl are nice but try some upper end mmatts subs with a classd amp,those things will POUND! i put 2 mmatts 3.0 series and burped 152.3 db! now thats bass.

 

mmatts are very sick. Definately they are more geared for spl but they are sick. Things like the memphis mojo, FI subs, Resonant engineering, Kickers subs hit hard but they use plastic voice coils, The RF T2 is nice. Lotsa good stuff out there. It's 95 percent installation 5 percent product. wow 152.3 on a burp that's impressive , what size subs were u running. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say ported box how big was the box and what port tuning. That's slammin i knew those subs were good but that's sick nasty

 

I was looking at the MTX Thunderforms with 2 10's, I mean they are not very high quality but for our small quad cabs I am sure they will hit. You can pick the thunderforms and subs for $250 + shipping, not too bad of a price. Think I might pick it up, will post pictures

 

sry this is old but yes had a ported box .95 cubic per sub, subs were in same box but separted, 5 in deep ports. thank god they made you stand outside the car to burp that, for obvious reasons
