Royal Purple is a good oil, but I'm not quite sold on the price tag. Mobil 1 is cheaper, (at least where I shop), and it is an excellent oil. My truck has only had Mobil 1 since 1000 miles on the odo.

Pappy you may want to switch to a 5w20. I've read somewhere that mds won't work with 5w30, but maybe that's a good thing since you have an aftermarket exhaust.

and yes, from all the studies I've seen, fram doesn't filter even close to as well as wix/napa gold. I use mobil 1 filters myself, they work well.

I would caution against Mobil 1 if you want it because it is a fair priced synthetic. Mobil 1has been called out in the last year because after Katrina hit NO, the oil isn't a full synthetic as it used to be. That is why I stopped using it. There is virgin oil and used oil analysis results to prove it, and calls and emails seem to suggest they are putting out a sub par product now. Just something for you to think about.

As a standard oil...run it if you want, but I would not trust it for a synthetic OCI.

I run Amsoil in my vehicles, thinkin about giving the RP a chance next change around. The thing I love about Amsoil though is they guarantee 24,000 miles or 12 months if you change the filter at 12k. You have to pick up a filter bypass kit to do it, but the math works out. In a year technically you would change your oil at least 4 times ( every three months minimum). I may pay almost 8 bucks a quart, but I only do it once.

I have ran mobile one since the truck hit 500 miles and every 3-5 thousand miles (dending on my driving) I have yet to have a problem and truck seems happy.
