Leveling Height LIMITED?
I spoke with the local 4x4 shop about leveling my truck. Im planning on just cranking the screws on the stock torsion keys, but he told me that every truck is different. He was telling me that they do it all the time and almost every Dodge is different, that some will only raise 1" some a little more. He told me its all on the truck basically no matter if I did buy aftermarket keys. Is this true? Also I was planning on getting new tires soon and I was going to get 33's, but cant decide if i want 33x12.5, 33x11.5, 33x10.5. Please give me some suggestions and pictures would be great. Thanks
General rule on 3rd Gen Ram's torsion bar adjusting bolts is that for every 1/4" you crank the bolt up, you get 1" of height. And I can't help ya on the tires, sorry.
I have an 04 and i turned the screws about 4 times around and it only went up about an inch, so if dirtydodge says 1/4=inch then the trucks must be different. I think the guy at the shop is just yanking your chain, i think he is full of bs.
Get a leveling kit. It consists of a pair of alluminium spacers that bolt on between the strut and the strut tower. Runs about $60 for the kit and another $25 or so to rent a strut compressor tool from your nearest autobody shop. I'm getting a polyurethane kit for an extra 10-spot (has a little bit of give to it, lasts a lifetime and adjusts well to temperature changes).
About the height, an '07 font will level to about an inch over stock height.
