The frame is very different. The 1500 is independent front suspension, the 2500 is solid front axle. That in and of itself requires a vastly different frame.

So what is a 1500 MegaCab? I heard that it is actually built on a 2500 frame, not a streched 1500 frame, but it has independent suspension on the front.

Yes all the mega cabs are built on the heavy duty frame, but as far as the differences between the 1500's 2500's I dont know, Im sure it has something to do with the front coil springs and the rear leaf springs

I read online that the mega cab 1500 has the same frame, chassis, axles and wheels as the 2500. I called Dodge customer service and they told me they are essentially the same pickup, but I think I might of been talking to a moron. So Icalled the local dealership and the salesman there said he thought the 2500 had an extra leaf, but I checked. Not true.I have not been able to get a definitive answer from anyone. So if there is anyone who does know for sure what the differences are, let me know. My couriosity has been peaked. My mega cab 1500 sure rides and pulls like a 3/4 ton. I pull a 31ft travel trailer with a GVWR of 7700 lbs and it does it quite well. I've even beenconsidering popping off my 1500 emblems and putting on 2500. My pickup seems to be more of a 2500 than a 1500 anyway. Have you ever seen a half ton pickup with a full floating rear axle?
