finally got a chance to see my superchip perform.
Was behind an o6 silverado on the service road to the expessway on longisland and this guy swore he was driving a vett. So on the two lane on-ramp I put my 03 5.7 into 2nd while doing about 30 mph and decided to slightly step on it . dam did this superchip make a differance! I could not believe the smooth it was while holding the revs in third gear to about 6k. and got up to 100 mph much faster than the stock set up. I was not beating onmy truck and still blew by the silverado . Didn't want to floor it but was very impressed without having to. It felt great to see a differance but won't push it since I hear so much about this mod burning our secound gears. The set up on the superchip was the 91 octane tow. Have any of you guy's with the same setup floored you truck at thease speeds and what have you experianced?
I keep mine programmed for 87 octane economy and still have a huge difference, I am probably going ot try 91 soon when I think I can afford it. Will probably have to refinance the house with these gas prices just to fill the tank with 91. Good job on killing the Chevy. Stupid vortec thinks he can hang with a Hemi.
I have that setup. Never tried dopping it into 2nd though and mashing it. For some reason I thought that would be bad for the trans.
eds2003ram, I'm guessing your name is ed and you have an 03. If that is true, then we have a bit in common. Anyway, did you notice that at around 2k rpm it is suddenly a rocket ship? Maybe this is true for everyone, but before SCs I don't remember my truck being this way.

hey dewalt ,you are correct on all 3 statments. and the last one ,about being different after the 2k rpms is so true. the stock set up slowed down the power band at low rpm's for some reason. The only problem now is trying to keep it under control and not do stupid moves to blow the tranny. Just as i did 10 mins ago. I decided to check the cut off on the rpms and stepped on it with the OD on and it went up to 6.5k without a problem. The little kid in me is what I have to control when it comes to this truck and also remind myself it is not like the RX7 rotory engine that I had before it. It's a bad habit to break.
Yeah, I know what you mean by "having control." I have to watch myself in traffic. Like at a red lightand then it goes green everybody starts moving. I have to make sure I go easy on the gas when it's about to hit 2nd, otherwise I'd be up in the front seat of the guy ahead of me. And the trans issue too. When the weather gets a little better I'm changing out my 3.55s for 4.10.
About that RX7. What rpm did it idle at? Was it a "smoothe" engine? Just curious cause I've studied them, calculated fuel and hp for them, but never drove one let alone heard it run.

In simple terms the RX7 was the best ,most sensitive , hp x cc's , smoothest, complicated engine , I've ever worked on . It took me 5 years to figure it out and by then I had my two boys and had to get rid of the two seater. It's reformance was insane at 400rwhp but that was only after many technical upgrades which would take up two much time to explain. It was very sensitive to tunning and needed plenty of attention but in return ,the engine with no pistons or internal moving parts , reved up almost as fast and smoother than a motorcycle with an amazing power band. You would not feel the vibration of the comun piston engine. The downfall was that I had to spend much more in mods than I have on my hemi to obtain this kind of horsepower. Those small ricers are competitave but but also can get very expencive especially when you have a family. For now the 5.7 ,chipped , and more interior and cargo room is a deacent trade off with less headaches and more reliability.
